Our new charity status and first fundraising campaign

I’m over the moon to reveal the very exciting news that Concerteenies is now a registered charity.

When I launched Concerteenies, the initial aim was to bring together professional musicians with very young children and their grown-ups so they could experience live music together. I had been a professional musician and educator for 20 years but this was also something very new for me, as I was a first-time mum and most of the audience was aged under three!

Today we can certainly say we have given many young children and their grown-ups the joy of live music, 37,000 of them in fact.

Over the years Concerteenies has grown, and we now have many projects with different goals. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this incredible journey so far. You can find out more about our success stories so far here.

One thing which has become clearer over the years is the huge need there is for music in the early years.

Music has a profound impact on child development, improving communication, creative expression and emotional literacy. It is literally life-changing. But access to it isn’t guaranteed.

For many children - and adults too - who come to our concerts, it is the first time they are seeing a live performance or hearing a musical instrument.

We want to do more to give young people the joy and benefits of music, especially in underserved and marginalised communities.

With this new charity status our vision is to level up access to music for all children aged 0-7, no matter their background or start in life.

To do this we have an ambitious five-year plan to develop, expand and innovate. And our first fundraising campaign, called Sounds Good, will help us do that.

We also have the help of our incredible trustees, and patron Roderick Williams OBE, who is an acclaimed composer, baritone and performed at King Charles’ Coronation ceremony.

So the next stage of our journey is beginning.

We hope you’ll join us on it and you can do this by coming to our concerts as a valued audience member, spreading the word on social media or by backing #SoundsGood.

You can be one of the first people to support #SoundsGood by donating to our Raisely page here.
